Progression Through Time:
The Digital Age of Technology

Technology is a human endeavor, constructed to make life easier.  It includes the advances in the production of devices or new applications of existing devices that change the way people do things.

Young people are often unaware of the significance of their technological heritage and how important technological change has been in influencing the lives of people in the 20th century and beyond.  The technological developments of the 20th century occurred on a scale and at a pace never before experienced.  Through our project we will attempt to show how advances in technology have changed the way people lead their day-to-day lives.  We will highlight the changes that have occurred from the time students grandparents were teenagers, to their parents, and finally themselves.  We will also discuss the differences between our countries during those time frames.

To add personal perspective to the project, students developed interview questions relating to our six subtopics.  They interviewed their parents, grandparents, teachers, and experts in the field,  to gather background information and add personal thoughts on our topic.

Our six subtopics are: Communication, Mass Media, and Information Technology Entertainment
Medical Daily Living
Education Work and Transportation

As you enter our site you will be getting on an elevator in an office building located downtown in a large metropolitan area.  Your choice of floor, once you get on the elevator, will determine the topic that will be covered in the storyline.

For example, the Communication, Mass Media, and Information Technology subtopic has a storyline which takes place in an office (4th floor) and another one that takes place in a radio station (3rd floor). We have included one survey page and one credits pages for each of the six subtopics.
