When did you first start utilizing technology in your classroom?

Some teachers began using computers in CEGEP; they would use computers in the classrooms and use Excel spreadsheets to record experimental results. Other teachers continued to use the primitive overhead projectors.

I started using overhead projectors over ten years ago.

In your opinion, have there been improvements in learning due to the use of technology in the classroom?
Allows students to "see" outside the classroom.

Yes, more access to information.  No, creates laziness.

No--as technology improves students/society expects more and some basic content knowledge is lost ie-calculators and adding in head.

Information can be presented many ways to enhance learning styles.

Can use clips from movies to help illustrate concepts and themes.

Yes! Different learning styles can now be better accommodated with the use of technology.

Learning has become more participatory and interactive which is a better way to assimilate new knowledge.

On the down side, students now have a greater need to be "entertained" while in an educational environment.

Yes, there is more available information and more options for research.

Not necessarily.

Yes, students like to work with computers.

Yes, it is easier to present larger amounts of material.

How has technology changed the way teach?
Focus on different topics in math due to calculators.

Computers have made assignments and tests more varied, easily updated, etc.  PowerPoint, video, CD all enhance the class.

More current information because of internet.  Keeps things new and fresh.

Less lectures on board.

Some people claim that they have been teaching for only a few years so nothing has actually changed much. Others are amazed with the new kind of calculators.

More knowledge is available.

Word processor - it's much easier  to create educational material.
Compute r- I have easier access to information.

I use more audio- visual aids, PowerPoint etc.

The computer gives me the option to retrieve  information and to edit it. Actually, the computer helps me improve my lessons.

There wasn't much of a change.

The use of computers today is obvious. In the past it barely existed.

You can type up tests on the computer and you can send the students to search for information with the computer.
