Emmanuel
Christian School is an inter-denominational Christian school offering
elementary and high school education. The school is supported by several
Christian churches and friends in the beautiful, multicultural city
of Montreal and elsewhere. Montreal is home to nearly 2 million
people from a variety of ethnic backgrounds and cultures. Our school
reflects that multicultural diversity which you can appreciate in the
many photos that are presented here.
Emmanuel High School first opened its doors to 38 students enrolled
in Grades 7 and 8 in September, 1975.
At present the school
has an enrolment of more than 300 students with a staff of 27 full and
part-time teachers and administrators. Because we are a private school,
we draw students from about a 30 km radius. Students arrive daily by
the school’s transportation system, public train and bus transit,
or private transportation.
As you walk through our hallways, you will hear the students and teachers
engage equally in both our national languages of French and English.
The elementary school offers a half day of instruction in both languages.
The high school, while recognized as an English school by the Quebec
Ministry of Education, offers many of its courses, including Art, Physical
Education, Geography and History in the language of French.
Some of our extracurricular activities include drama, choir, badminton
and basketball. Our school also offers an annual Public Speaking Competition
in which all students participate and an annual Science Fair. Throughout
the years, many of our students have gone on to place bronze, silver
or gold awards in the Montreal Science Fair.
As our name suggests, our school is first and foremost a Christian school,
where the Lordship of Jesus Christ is recognized and confessed. Bible
study is a normal part of the school day where the revelation and truth
of the Scriptures are brought to bear on all the study and activities
of the school.
Our school seeks to provide Christ-centred education for children and
young people from Christian families through a bilingual elementary
and a partial-immersion secondary program that meets or exceeds the
standards of the Quebec
Ministry of Education.
